The event is FREE and is located at Capla Kesting Fine Art, 121 Roebling St at North 5th St, Williamsburg, Brooklyn from 6-9pm.

Paris Hilton’s naked “corpse” could provide an invaluable service to students preparing for prom this season. An interactive Public Service Announcement featuring the graphic display of a tiara-wearing, autopsied Paris Hilton with removable innards is designed to warn teenagers of the hazards of underage drinking. The display also features Tinkerbell, Hilton’s forlorn pet Chihuahua with matching tiara, and debuts in the trendy Williamsburg, Brooklyn neighborhood where prom-goers frequently dine, courtesy of Capla Kesting Fine Art.

Paris Hilton Autopsy will be at the Capla Kesting Fine Art gallery from May 12-30, 2007.

Getting there: The Capla Kesting Fine Art gallery is located at 121 Roebling St. at North 5th in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Take the L train to the Bedford Ave. stop (1st stop in Brooklyn) then walk 1 block east to Roebling St., turn right and walk 2 blocks to North 5th St.

From the press release

Dr Pepper, MTV, and Epic recording artist Cartel are giving music fans more of what they want this summer … a first-time, real-time look into the making of the band’s newest album during Dr Pepper Band in a Bubble. In what is sure to be the most talked-about music event of the year, Cartel will be sealed inside a huge transparent bubble on Hudson River Park’s Pier 54 in New York City from May 24 through June 12, and every move they make will be live for the world to see as they eat, breathe, sleep and record the follow-up to their breakthrough debut album, CHROMA.

Pier 54 is located on the Hudson River at 13th St. Check out the satellite view from Google Maps here. I passed by the pier when they were still building the bubble and aside from official events it doesn’t look like you would be able to walk up to it and peek inside. The pier is quite long, the entrance is guarded and the bubble is at the end. It’s an odd structure that looks fairly small… I don’t know how they’re going to live in there for 20 days.

Ice skating at Bryant Park is free through January 15th. The Pond at Bryant park returns as the centerpiece of Fêtes de Noël, which also includes the fifth annual Holiday Shops at Bryant Park. The rink is larger than the rink at Rockefeller Center but the free comes with somewhat of a catch. Bring skates and a lock for the locker and ice skating really is free. Otherwise you can rent skates for $8.75/pair and buy a lock for $9.00 for the lockers.

Tip: Not many people own ice skates so you’ll have to rent them where ever you skate in NYC. One place you can save money is with locker rentals. If you bring your own lock you can use a locker for free. You can buy a lock at a hardware store or pharmacy for a lot less than the $9.00 Bryant Park charges.

Getting there: Bryant Park is situated behind the New York Public Library in midtown Manhattan, between 40th and 42nd Streets & Fifth and Sixth Avenues. Subway F, V, B, D to 42nd St/Bryant Park

The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree arrived today from Connecticut. This year the tree is an 88 foot Norway spruce from the home of Rob Kinnaird. Each year helicopters scout the area for a tree, the minumum height being 75 feet tall. No money is paid for the tree but the owner(s) of the tree get the VIP treatment during the lighting of the tree. The lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree takes place on November 29 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. The tree stays up until January 9, 2007

Local Tips: Rockefeller Center during the holiday season is packed when there is no lighting ceremony so you can imagine during the ceremony that it’s a mob. Honestly your best bet is to watch it on tv because it’s nearly impossible to get a good view. Rockefeller Center is a tightly packed space with narrow streets and tall buildings. The viewing area from a distance is very limited so your time would be better spent elsewhere than waiting for the lights to come on. I watched the lights come on one year and would not do it again. We waited for hours in a tightly packed crowd far across on 5th Ave. only to hear a countdown and see the lights come on. It really wasn’t worth it.

Late nights (especially weekday nights) are best to view the tree and to avoid the crowds. The tree is lit until 11:30pm every night.

Getting there: Subway B, D, F, V to Rockefeller Center/47-50 Streets

If you lived in the New York City area when A Chorus Line first opened you might remember the original television commerical. Ahh the memories… kind of like the Milford Plaza commerical. Opening to fantastic reviews, A Chorus Line may be the best musical this season.

“In an empty theatre, on a bare stage, casting for a new Broadway musical is almost complete. The field’s been narrowed down to just 17 dancers. For these men and women, this audition is the chance of a lifetime. It’s what they’ve worked for — with every drop of sweat, every hour of training, every day of their lives. It’s the one opportunity to do what they’ve always dreamed of. Not to be the star, but to get the job … to have the chance to dance and come through.

But before the final cut is made, the director Zach asks each of them to talk about themselves. He starts by asking their name, age, hometown and reason for being a dancer. But Zach wants more than just their resumes. He wants to know about their families, friends, lovers, ambitions and careers. One by one, they come forward.
Some are shy or reluctant, while others are more than happy to reveal their innermost thoughts. From funny to heartbreaking, these 17 dancers share with us the stories of their lives. They put themselves on the line to get a job on the line. And when they’re done, so is the audition. And the final chorus line of 8 dancers is chosen. “

Ticketing Tips from the website:

Although every seat in our intimate Schoenfeld Theatre has full views of the stage, finding that ideal seating location on that precise date might take a few extra steps. To assist with this search, we have provided 5 easy steps to enhance you seating opportunity.
Sign Up For Our Exclusive Ticketing Guide

Get the inside track and exclusive access to up-to-date ticketing information directly in your inbox by signing up for A Chorus Line’s Exclusive Ticketing Guide. Bennett’s Mezzanine

A Chorus Line conceiver Michael Bennett preferred his closest friends and family to view the show from the front mezzanine as it provided the ideal seats to view his direction and choreography

Now staged in a smaller and more intimate theatre, seats in the Mezzanine are often regarded as less desirable than orchestra when, in fact, they offer some of the best views. Try locating seats in this section on those more popular dates.
Weeknight Performances

Tuesday and Wednesday evening performances have a wider range of orchestra seating available than any other day during the week. Check Telecharge for the best available on these select weekday performances.
Book Ahead

Ticket availability tends to be tight in the first 2-3 months of your booking date. Booking in advance allows for a wider range of availability for weekend and orchestra seating and will increase your chances of finding the seats you most desire.

Currently, we have a wide range of tickets available in the months of January and February.
Premium Seats
If you’ve exhausted all of your options or you want the very best seats in the house, opt for our premium seats. They are a higher price but offer the very best views. Click here to purchase.

Lottery Seats

Prior to each performance of A Chorus Line, patrons will be invited to enter a lottery drawing at the theatre for a limited number of $20 front orchestra seats to that day’s performance. The lottery will begin at 5:30 and names will be drawn at random with winners announced at 6:00.

*PLEASE NOTE: Ticket allotments of 9, 10, or 11 can only be purchased at the Schoenfeld Theatre box office and are not available through Telecharge

Skating under the lights of the Rockefeller Christmas tree is a unique New York City experience. The rink is 122 feet long and 59 feet wide and 150 skaters can be on the ice at a time.

Tip: Everything looks bigger on t.v. and in pictures, right? The Rockfellar skating rink is small. (If you’ve skated here before I’d recommend going to Wollman Rink instead. Wollman is bigger and just another rink to experience.) Friday through Sunday is very crowded so expect long lines. If you can, try visiting the rink during an early weekday. If you really want to skate under at night under the lights try a weekday afternoon or night.

Admission: Adults Monday-Thusday is $10. Friday-Sunday and holidays it’s $14.
Children under 11 and seniors Monday-Thursday is $7.50. Friday-Sunday and holidays it’s $8.50
Skate rentals are $7.50 so if you don’t have skates with you know that you’ll pay an additional $7.50. If you need a locker to store your things expect an additional charge.

Getting there: Subway B, D, F, V to Rockefeller Center/47-50 Streets
