A Chorus Line - Back on Broadway
Posted October 14, 2006
If you lived in the New York City area when A Chorus Line first opened you might remember the original television commerical. Ahh the memories… kind of like the Milford Plaza commerical. Opening to fantastic reviews, A Chorus Line may be the best musical this season.
“In an empty theatre, on a bare stage, casting for a new Broadway musical is almost complete. The field’s been narrowed down to just 17 dancers. For these men and women, this audition is the chance of a lifetime. It’s what they’ve worked for — with every drop of sweat, every hour of training, every day of their lives. It’s the one opportunity to do what they’ve always dreamed of. Not to be the star, but to get the job … to have the chance to dance and come through.
But before the final cut is made, the director Zach asks each of them to talk about themselves. He starts by asking their name, age, hometown and reason for being a dancer. But Zach wants more than just their resumes. He wants to know about their families, friends, lovers, ambitions and careers. One by one, they come forward.
Some are shy or reluctant, while others are more than happy to reveal their innermost thoughts. From funny to heartbreaking, these 17 dancers share with us the stories of their lives. They put themselves on the line to get a job on the line. And when they’re done, so is the audition. And the final chorus line of 8 dancers is chosen. “

Bennett’s Mezzanine
A Chorus Line conceiver Michael Bennett preferred his closest friends and family to view the show from the front mezzanine as it provided the ideal seats to view his direction and choreography
Now staged in a smaller and more intimate theatre, seats in the Mezzanine are often regarded as less desirable than orchestra when, in fact, they offer some of the best views. Try locating seats in this section on those more popular dates.
Weeknight Performances
Tuesday and Wednesday evening performances have a wider range of orchestra seating available than any other day during the week. Check Telecharge for the best available on these select weekday performances.
Book Ahead
Ticket availability tends to be tight in the first 2-3 months of your booking date. Booking in advance allows for a wider range of availability for weekend and orchestra seating and will increase your chances of finding the seats you most desire.
Currently, we have a wide range of tickets available in the months of January and February.
Premium Seats
If you’ve exhausted all of your options or you want the very best seats in the house, opt for our premium seats. They are a higher price but offer the very best views. Click here to purchase.
Lottery Seats
Prior to each performance of A Chorus Line, patrons will be invited to enter a lottery drawing at the theatre for a limited number of $20 front orchestra seats to that day’s performance. The lottery will begin at 5:30 and names will be drawn at random with winners announced at 6:00.
*PLEASE NOTE: Ticket allotments of 9, 10, or 11 can only be purchased at the Schoenfeld Theatre box office and are not available through Telecharge
